WMI’s Dredging Division completed the excavation for the construction of a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal in Cameron, Louisiana. The division was on the ground floor of this high profile project that involved hydraulically dredging over 3.6mcy of virgin material to a placement area that created approximately 700 acres of new marsh.
One of the complexities of the project was the laying of more than 20,000’ of pipeline through a sensitive marsh area. The hydraulic cutter suction dredge RS Weeks was utilized to accomplish the required dredging and marsh creation.
The Dredging Division worked in close quarters with Weeks Marine’s Construction Division, and many others subcontractors, to make this a safe and successful project
