Weeks Marine was contracted by the Corps of Engineers to excavate over 600,000 cy of new material in order to deepen the Mobile River channel to a depth of -47 feet below mean lower low water. The disposal site for the dredge sediment was located approximately thirty-five (35) nautical miles from the dredge site in the Gulf of Mexico. The Clamshell Dredge 506 along with two (2) scow barges and two (2) Weeks Marine tugs, the Katherine and the Robert, were used to complete the project.
