Weeks Marine is looking for qualified Assistant Engineers to ensure the safe operation and maintenance of our vessels by assisting with boots-on-the-ground maintenance for powerplant, propulsion and dredging equipment.
As an experienced leader, you’ll support the chief engineer by overseeing watch duties and performing routine maintenance. This includes monitoring safety and pollution prevention, maintaining engine room logs and inventory, directing oilers during watch shifts and more.
- Daily pay rate starting at $661.32 for 12-hour shift
- Paid travel from home airport to work location and back (anywhere in the Continental U.S.).
- 21 days on/21 days off rotation
- Reports to Vessel Captain
Job description/duties:
- Boots-on-the-ground maintenance for powerplant, propulsion and dredging equipment
- Issue and communicate appropriate orders, verifying that specified requirements of the Safety Management System (SMS) are observed
- Responsible for monitoring the safety and pollution prevention aspects of operations
- Develop understanding of Weeks Marine engineering, operations, policies and procedures
- Stand engine room watch on assigned vessel – will lead the watch and direct oilers in their work
- Perform routine engine maintenance and repairs
- Maintain engine room daily logs
- Maintain engine room parts inventory and stocks as needed
- Transfer fuel, oil and water
- Follows company and work site safety policies and procedures
- Paid travel from home airport to work location and back (anywhere in the Continental U.S.)
- Per diem paid for travel days: $45 per diem on travel day into assignment, $45 per diem plus 12 hours pay on travel day out from assignment
- Live on board
$2,100 Referral Bonus: Eligibility begins after the referred employee returns for their third rotation, $700 is paid per rotation until bonus is met.
Referral must be employed for the duration of bonus payout period.

- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
- Experience in marine construction and dredging preferred
- Ability to work rotational 12-hour watch
- Ability to live aboard vessel for full rotation (21 days on/21 days off), with adjustments as necessary
- Willingness and ability to travel
- Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing
- Possess all valid credentials and ensure they are within a minimum of six months from expiration
- Familiarity with International Safety Management Code (ISM)

- Must be able to lift or carry miscellaneous equipment, supplies, and parts, up to 50 lbs. unassisted
