Marine Services

We own and maintain one of the largest fleets of floating equipment in North America, providing one-stop services, excellence in customer service and problem solving for diverse marine challenges. We work closely with individual clients and across the Weeks Marine family of companies to support all aspects of projects, contributing to the success our turnkey deliveries. We own and operate yards in New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia and along the Gulf Coast and we boast a selection of one-of-a-kind equipment, including a 500 ton fully revolving floating crane, in addition to a 3,000 ton semi-submersible deck barge for float-on float-off cargo handling.
Areas of Focus
Chartering
We operate a charter fleet of over 85 barges at our yards along the East and Gulf Coasts - an impressive fleet of ocean barges, along with inland service-deck, hopper, spud, material and specialty barges. Our deck and hopper barges are available for short or long-term bareboat/time charters. Full-service yards on the East and Gulf Coasts offer mobilization services for equipment load-out and custom steel fabrications. Additionally, we offer a range of specialty vessels such as jack-up barges and floating-crane barges, which are also available for bareboat charter.
Heavy Lift & Salvage
Weeks’ dedicated heavy lift team and in-house engineering department provides turnkey transportation solutions that best suit our clients’ needs, from waterborne lift-securing to the transportation of oversized and heavy equipment. Some of our unique capabilities include barge and railcar cargo securing, salvage and wreck removal, roll-on/roll-off and a floating crane capacity of up to 500 tons. Weeks can execute projects using pre-determined plans, or we can develop plans from scratch through a productive and collaborative process with our clients. We frequently support marine construction projects and also man rentals as needed.
Towing
Our diverse fleet of tug boats makes us a leading provider of towing services throughout the United States East Coast and Gulf as well as the Caribbean. Our new fleet currently being introduced into the industry is Tier 3 compliant regarding emissions control of particulate matter and carbon monoxide. With engines ranging from 800 to 4,000 hp, our powerful tugs are equipped for even the toughest jobs. Our diversified fleet can handle domestic and foreign tows to and from most locations, and we offer suitable tugs for both coastwise and international voyages. We support the diverse needs of our dredging and marine construction operations as well as provide salvage and rescue towing and oilfield support vessels. Each boat is manned by highly skilled crew members, who adhere to strict standards for safety, environmental and regulatory compliance.
Stevedoring
Weeks owns one of the largest floating bulk stevedoring crane operations on the Eastern seaboard. We specialize in bulk stevedoring and material handling in addition to emergency lightering, salvage and wreck removal services, with production rates up to 1,000 tons per hour. Encompassing nine acres, our self-operated dry-bulk terminal in the deep-water of Port Newark, New Jersey sits in close proximity to the New York and New England markets. Additional equipment is staged in the Philadelphia area to serve the Delaware and Chesapeake regions, as far south as Norfolk, VA and Wilmington, NC. Our high production, duty-cycle cranes have a capacity up to 30cy with peak transfer rates of 300 to 1,000 metric tons per hour. These gantry mounted cranes can efficiently reach several hatches of Panamax-class ships at anchorage, mid-stream or dockside. We utilize proven methods and trusted equipment to interface directly with barge, rail and truck transportation systems. With the support of Weeks’ expansive fleet of tugs and barges, our stevedoring group offers full-service solutions for transportation and handling.
