Transporting the retired Space Shuttle Enterprise to its home at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum

In June of 2012, Weeks Marine delivered the retired Space Shuttle Enterprise from JFK International Airport to the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. The team worked with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to carefully plan the route from the airport to the museum and used Weeks’ tugboats Virginia & Shelby, a deck barge and the Weeks 533 floating crane. Enterprise was lifted and placed onto the deck barge and then towed to the Intrepid where it was again lifted – this time much higher – onto the deck of the aircraft carrier.
