Skyray Transport

After a 25 mile over-the-road journey through Connecticut, Weeks Marine met the Douglas F4D Skyray near Hartford, CT to help it make its journey home to the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. Weeks utilized a specialty spud barge – Weeks 47 deck barge – to help secure the Skyray and towed the plane from Connecticut to New York where the plane was lifted up onto the deck of the Intrepid. Our Weeks 47 deck barge was the perfect fit for this project as it is a self-elevating spud barge which has a winch system that can raise and lower the spuds to secure it for operations and it had ample space to secure the plane.
