Beach nourishment and stabilization to address shoreline erosion, provide storm surge protection and repair back barrier marshes.

Weeks completed dredging work on the isle of West Grand Terre to restore 256 acres of beaches, dunes and back barrier marshland. 2.5 million cubic yards of dredged sediment was pumped from the Gulf of Mexico to raise the beach elevation by four feet, bringing the elevation in same areas to eight feet above sea level. Work began in the spring of 2021, with the removal of unsuitable, overburden material and with our 30-inch cutter suction dredge, the C.R. McCaskill, followed by beachfill dredging performed by another 30-in cutter suction dredge, the R.S. Weeks, which pumped on approximately 37,000 feet. of pipeline.
